Learning is the process of trying on new identities. When we learn something new about the world, it changes who we are. The titles I use as salutations in the letters are not just occupations that I hope my students will some day have. They are ways of seeing the world that I want my students to try on.

Update: I just call them humans now. Because that’s what I mostly hope they aspire to be.
